Anthropology Plus

This large database combines two former resources: Anthropological Index and Anthropological Literature. This database provides indexing to journal articles and reports in anthropology and related disciplines.  Coverage dates back to the late 19th century.

AnthroSource

From the American Anthropological Association (AAA) and the University of California Press, AnthroSource provides access to peer reviewed journals, newsletters, and bulletins including American Anthropologist, American Ethnologist, Anthropology and Education Quarterly, and Medical Anthropology Quarterly.  

eHRAF: Collection of Ethnography 

This database provides extensive full-text access to documents relating to cultures around the world

Academic Search Premier

This large multidisciplinary database includes full-text for approximately 4,500 journals, including more than 3,600 peer-reviewed publications.  Searchable cited references are also included for 1,000 titles.

African American Biographical Database

Contains biographies obtained from a variety of resources including slave narratives, biographical dictionaries, and obituaries.

Ageline

Produced by the American Association of Retired Persons (AARP), this database indexes research relating to gerontology.  Coverage is back to 1978.

ATLA Religion                         

Scholarly index to journals, book reviews, and essays relating to religious studies.

 

Chicano Database                    

An index to Mexican-American topics dating back to the 1960s, this resource also includes the Spanish Speaking Mental Health Database.

 

Ethnic NewsWatch

Balanced research techniques consider multiple viewpoints and this database can help provide that balance.  Full-text access is included for articles from more than 200 minority press journals dating back to 1990. 

Expanded Academic ASAP

This multi-disciplinary database provides straight-forward searching.  Topics may easily be limited to full-text and to refereed (peer-reviewed) journals.

GenderWatch            

Full-text access to international journals, magazines, newsletters, regional publications, special reports and conference proceedings discussing a wide variety of women’s issues.

HAPI Online (Hispanic American Periodicals Index)        

Produced by the UCLA Latin American Center, this resource indexes books, documents, and journal articles for political, social, and economic issues in the geographic areas of Central and South America, Mexico, the Caribbean basin, the United States-Mexico border region, and Hispanics in the United States. 

Historical Abstracts

Indexes materials covering world history from 1450 through the present day.

HLAS Online (Handbook of Latin American Studies)

Annotated index to books, book chapters, conference papers, and articles published worldwide in the field of Latin American studies.

             

Humanities and Social Sciences Index Retrospective

Provides indexing to journals in the social sciences and humanities dating back to 1907.

PsycINFO (Ebsco)

Produced by the APA, this database is considered the primary index to scholarly, psychological literature.  Indexes articles in more than 2,100 journals as well as relevant books and book chapters.  The Ebsco version of this database provides easy ways to limit searches and to export citations to ProCite, EndNote, or RefWorks.  Added features in this version are cited references and a convenient link to the Thesaurus of Psychological Index Terms. 1806-date.

Social Sciences Full-Text

Indexes more than 600 journals relating to the social sciences.  Searches are easily limited to peer-reviewed journals. Coverage goes back to 1983.

Social Services Abstracts

Indexes journal articles in social work, human services, and related disciplines.  Coverage back to 1980.

Social Work Abstracts Plus

Indexes resources relating to social work and human services.  Coverage is from 1977 to present.

Sociological Abstracts

Indexes journal articles, book reviews, books, book chapters, dissertations, and conference papers relating to the social sciences.  Coverage goes back to 1963.

Web of Science

Includes Science Citation Index Expanded and Social Sciences Citation Index.  One of the most comprehensive databases with indexing to more than 5900 journals.   This resource may be best known for its extensive forward and backward links to cited references.  Also links to full-text articles when available through USF subscriptions. 1900-date.

Wilson Omnifile Full Text Mega Edition

A large multi-disciplinary resource indexing research on a wide variety of subjects.  Many citations link to the full-text of the article.  Searches are easily limited to peer-reviewed journals. Coverage goes back to 1982.

E-journal collections

Annual Reviews

Searchable full-text access to the entire content of the Annual Review titles including Anthropology, Law and Social Science, Psychology, Public Health, Medicine, and Sociology.

Blackwell Synergy

Searchable access to the journals from Blackwell Publishing including a number of titles relating to anthropology such as: Anthropology Today, International Migration, Journal of the Royal Anthropological Institute, Social Anthropology, Studies in Family Planning, etc.

Cambridge Journals Online

Searchable access to the journals from Cambridge University Press.


Directory of Open Access Journals

Provides full-text access to free scientific and scholarly journals.  More than 2500 journal titles are included in this resource with approximately 750 of them searchable at the article level.

HighWire Press

A partnership between Stanford University Libraries and influential scholarly societies, university presses, and publishers, HighWire provides searchable, full-text access to a large number of the 200 most frequently cited journals.


JSTOR

This unique resource was created to provide searchable, full-text access to the older editions of a vast number of scholarly journals.  Coverage goes back to volume one of the journal but does not include the most recent few years of the title.  The database is multidisciplinary but contains many titles specifically related to anthropology including the Anthropological Quarterly, Cultural Anthropology, Current Anthropology, and Ethnohistory.

OCLC ECO: Electronic Collections Online

A large, searchable database with full-text articles from a wide variety of journals and publishers.

Oxford Journals

Searchable access to the journals from Oxford University Press.

Project Muse

Provides the full-text of more than 300 scholarly journals in the arts and humanities. 


ScienceDirect

A searchable collection of more than 1,000 Elsevier science journals. Also provides access to articles that are in press but not yet published in the print version.


SpringerLink

Searchable access to the journals from Springer.
