Finding Articles

Criminal Justice Periodicals Index

Provides full-text access to major criminal justice journals and abstract information for nearly 150 additional titles.

Criminal Justice Abstracts

Provides comprehensive coverage of major journals in criminology and related disciplines as well as books, research reports, and government documents.   Each abstract describes the article's major findings and theoretical and practical implications.   It should be noted that the editors advise using the online version, since it contains many thousands of abstracts that were never published in the print edition.

Criminology: A SAGE Full-text Collection

Covers such subjects as criminal justice, juvenile delinquency, juvenile justice, corrections, penology, policing, forensic psychology, and family and domestic violence. The searchable database consists of bibliographic records (indexed summaries or abstracts) and full-text.

National Criminal Justice Reference Service Abstracts Database (NCJRS)

A bibliographic file of annotated citations from the collection of the National Criminal Justice Reference Service.   NCJRS is an international clearinghouse of information about criminal justice and law enforcement sponsored by the National Institute of Justice, a division of the U.S. Department of Justice.   About half the material is from government documents and reports, while a third represents journal articles.   Poynter Library has the full-text microfiche collection (up to 1989 only) to many of the items in the NCJRS index.
