Africana Studies
Prepared by Mika Slaughter Nelson
July 2003
Africana Studies refers to the scholarly examination of the black experience in Africa and throughout the African Diaspora, extending to the United States, the Caribbean, Europe and elsewhere in the world. This is an interdisciplinary academic field, and therefore, related research materials will overlap other traditional disciplines, such as History, Sociology, Political Science, Business/Economics, and Women Studies. The selection of reference and general sources listed below will likely provide a basic research foundation on various topics within the field of Africana Studies.
