Mental Measurements Yearbook

Accessing Mental Measurements Yearbook:

Mental Measurements Yearbook may be accessed in two ways—through the printed volumes (kept in the reference section of the library) or online.  The online version provides access to Yearbooks 9 through 16 only.  To gain access to earlier editions of the Mental Measurements Yearbook, you must refer to the printed versions.

Steps for using the online version of Mental Measurements Yearbook to locate a specific psychological test:

1. Go to the USF Libraries web site at http://www.lib.usf.edu
2. Under “Electronic Resources,” click on “Databases/Newspapers”
3. In the “By database name” title box, type:   Mental Measurements Yearbook
4. At the next screen, click on the Mental Measurements Yearbook Link (on the left side of the screen)
5. You will see a list of several databases, check off Mental Measurements Yearbook, then click on the “Start Searching” button located in the upper right corner of the screen.
6. On the Mental Measurements Yearbook search screen, click on the “index” tab
7. Use the pull-down menu to select “Test Name (TN)”
8. In the “term” box, type in the name of your test and click “go to term”
9. Click on the link for your test
10. To see all information including any available reviews and references, click on the “complete record” link

NOTE:    If you do not know the specific name of the test, you can use the “general index” selection from the index screen’s pull-down menu to search the database by keyword or category.  The “database guide” link in the upper right corner of the search screen provides additional information on searching the Mental Measurements Yearbook database.

              Organized thematically with each volume of this four-volume set covering a different aspect of assessment; Intellectual and Neuropsychological Assessment (v.1), Personality Assessment (v.2), Behavioral Assessment (v.3), and Industrial and Organizational Assessment (v.4).  Lengthy articles include bibliographies.

Encyclopedia of Psychological Assessment.                    REF BF176 .E53 2003.

              Written by experts from around the world, each article includes a general overview followed by a discussion of relevant assessment devices and a brief bibliography.

How to Prepare a Research Article in APA Style.                       Shelved in Ready Reference.

              This short volume provides examples of well-written introduction, methodology, results, and discussion sections.  Appendices have general tips on manuscript preparation and working with reviewers.

Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association, 5th ed.            Ready Reference

An essential resource for writing research papers in psychology.  This handbook provides detailed instructions on organizing and formatting the paper.  Numerous examples are given on how to correctly cite resources.

Test Critiques                  REF BF176.T419

              Includes critiques and lists of additional references for tests that the editorial staff considers the “most frequently used psychological, educational, and business tests.”   

Tests in Print                 REF   LB3051 .T445

              Although this resource does not include the text of reviews, it provides basic information on commercially published English-language tests.  Extensive lists of additional references are included when available.  Tests in Print also serves as a comprehensive index to all editions of the Mental Measurement Yearbook—use Tests in Print to find out which editions of MMY contain information on the test in question.
