BlackBoard Training for Faculty
Receive basic training on the Blackboard course management system (Bb). Group workshops are available at the beginning of each semester. Individual questions regarding Blackboard may be submitted via the library help desk at www.nelson.usf.edu/helpdesk.
Borrow from other U.S. Libraries
Need a book or article that we don’t have? Submit a request to Illiad, our automated Interlibrary loan system.
Equipment Requests
Use this online form to request audio visual and instructional media equipment for classroom use. Requests must be received at least 24 hours before equipment is needed.
Instructional Design Services for Faculty
The DL team of Instructional Designers and Technologists help faculty learn the pedagogical differences between online and face-to-face learning and use that knowledge to generate a repertoire of content for the creation of Quality Matters (QM) certified online and hybrid courses. Professional development opportunities available through our office include workshops, tutorials, and one-on-one support on media streaming, instructional technology, ADA accessibility, and more.
The USF ID card is primarily used for identification, for verification of USF status, and for using University services, such as the Library, the gym, the pool, the purchase of parking decals, obtaining passes for University sporting, Etc.
Library & Research Instruction Training
Schedule your class for customized research class. Students learn how to find scholarly books, peer-reviewed articles, statistics, and other information suitable to your course assignments and syllabi. Students also learn how to evaluate and cite their sources according to the standards of your discipline.
Lost Book Declaration Form

USF students, staff and faculty can sign into their accounts and renew most items online.
Book Purchase Requests
Suggest materials for the Library to consider for purchase and addition to the collection. Requests will be evaluated by library staff based on available funds and USFSP programmatic needs.

Rush Cataloging Request Form
Request cataloging of an item listed in the online catalog under USF St. Petersburg as "In Process". Library staff will make every attempt to expedite the cataloging process. You will be notified when the book is available.

Access Services
Comprised of the Circulation, Reserves, and Interlibrary Loan departments of the Nelson Poynter Memorial Library. Circulation is the physical point for borrowing of materials from within the library. Course reserves consist of shelved materials such as books, journals, and media and assistance with electronic materials delivered through Blackboard. Interlibrary Loan fulfills the borrowing requests for items located in other Libraries of the USF System, as well as those around the country and beyond.
Collection Development & Technical Services
Supporting the teaching mission of USFSP by acquiring and organizing library materials and coordinating the assessment and development of the library collection, in collaboration with subject area specialists appointed as library liaisons.
Online Learning
Located on the second floor of the Nelson Poynter Memorial Library, Distance Learning Services (DL) provides instructional design and educational technology support and facilities for faculty and staff at USF SP. The DL team of Instructional Designers and Technologists help faculty learn the pedagogical differences between online and face-to-face learning and use that knowledge to generate a repertoire of content for the creation of Quality Matters (QM) certified online and hybrid courses.
Facilities include a multi-camera digital studio for the creation of Video Enhanced Lectures and a digitization studio for the conversion of instructional media. Professional development opportunities available through our office include workshops, tutorials, and one-on-one support on the following topics:

Instructional Media
The Instructional Media Department supports the teaching and research efforts of the University of South Florida St. Petersburg by providing audiovisual technologies in all on-site classrooms. Situated on the 2 nd floor of the Nelson Poytner Library, the Media Center provides access to large and small listening and viewing rooms, a graphics lab, a studio and control room, production room, dubbing and archive room, and storage and repair rooms. The USF St. Petersburg ID Card Center creates USF ID cards for all USF Students, Faculty, Administrative and Professional (A&P), University Support Personnel System (USPS) and OPS personnel.
Reference and Instruction Services
The Poynter Library Reference Desk is open seven (7) days a week with a professional librarian on duty to assist library users with their research and information needs.
Special Collections & Archives
The SCA operates as a distinct unit within the Nelson Poynter Memorial Library at USF St. Petersburg, a public institution chartered by the State of Florida.
Systems & Technology
This office supports the computing needs of several groups- library staff, librarians, students and patrons. Here you will find support for wireless network access, the library Information Commons, group study computing and library printing and copying.
