Collection Assessment & Analysis:

  • Providing discipline and subject-specific reports on the library’s collection
  • Providing analysis of the overall strengths and weaknesses of the collection
  • Analyzing holdings to identify material for de-selection
  • Analyzing serial and periodical subscriptions by format to identify the need for strategic cancellations, renewals and additional titles
  • Analyzing and describing current levels of collection activity
  • Supporting programmatic and regional accreditation
  • Using data from the OCLC Collection Assessment module, combined with the American Association of College and Research Libraries (ACRL) quantitative Formula A for colleges, used prior to the 2004 revision; and the newer, less quantitative June 2004 Standards, as well as a modified WLN Conspectus method, to establish Current Collection Level Ratings by discipline
  • Using Current Collection Level Ratings, student and faculty FTE's, current academic programs by discipline, major, minor, scheduled course hours, and level of study to establish Desired Current Collection Level Ratings as Collection Development goals
