DEPARTMENTS
Need more information on who to contact for help? Here's a description of the services provided by the different departments in the library!
Access Services
Comprised of the Circulation, Reserves, and Interlibrary Loan departments of the Nelson Poynter Memorial Library. Circulation is the physical point for borrowing of materials from within the library. Course reserves consist of shelved materials such as books, journals, and media and assistance with electronic materials delivered through Blackboard. Interlibrary Loan fulfills the borrowing requests for items located in other Libraries of the USF System, as well as those around the country and beyond.
Collection Development & Technical Services
Supporting the teaching mission of USFSP by acquiring and organizing library materials and coordinating the assessment and development of the library collection, in collaboration with subject area specialists appointed as library liaisons.
Online Learning
Located on the second floor of the Nelson Poynter Memorial Library, Distance Learning Services (DL) provides instructional design and educational technology support and facilities for faculty and staff at USF SP. The DL team of Instructional Designers and Technologists help faculty learn the pedagogical differences between online and face-to-face learning and use that knowledge to generate a repertoire of content for the creation of Quality Matters (QM) certified online and hybrid courses.
Facilities include a multi-camera digital studio for the creation of Video Enhanced Lectures and a digitization studio for the conversion of instructional media. Professional development opportunities available through our office include workshops, tutorials, and one-on-one support on the following topics:
- Media Streaming Services
- Blackboard Training and Support
- Instructional Technology Tools
- ADA Accessibility Best Practices for Online Content
- Other topics vary by semester
