HARDWARE AIDS

Two optical magnification systems are available for use in the library. The first is the Telesensory Voyager XL CCD video magnification unit, model XL7A. It is comprised of a video camera and a large display screen and a sliding tray to hold the viewing material.

The second unit is the Telesensory Aladdin Classic video magnification unit, model AL1A. Located in room POY 137, it is a newer more compact unit with the same functions. Both units display a black & white image in positive or negative polarity, and are designed for use by people who have visual impairments (including "legal blindness") which make it difficult or impossible for them to read ordinary printed materials.
