Library Orientation & Instruction
Poynter
Library provides a variety of library instruction opportunities
which are designed to help library users become familiar with
the resources and services available in Poynter Library:
Students
Tutorials
Topics include how to use the USF Libraries online catalog and
related databases and information sources, how to conduct research,
and the evaluation of materials. Sessions are held in Room 218
on a walk-in basis. For topics, days and times click on Calendar.
Research
Assistance Program (RAP)
If you would like individualized instruction or help with a
special project sign-up forms are available at the Reference
Desk, or see the RAP
Request Form for details.
Faculty
Classroom Instruction
Faculty members who would like to provide library instruction
for a particular class are invited to contact the library to
request an instruction session. Such a session would focus on
the specific subject area requested by the faculty member and
include an introduction to the USF Libraries online catalog,
appropriate subject databases, and/or other related information
sources. Evaluation of materials, plagiarism and bibliographic
styles are included. Instruction sessions take place in the
library electronic instruction classroom (Room 218) and can
be scheduled during a normal class meeting period or at another
time convenient for the students. Supporting handouts are usually
available.
To schedule a classroom instruction session, please contact
Tina Neville at neville@nelson.usf.edu
or call 727-873-4180.
