Poynter Library provides access to various electronic services as well as online assistance in finding materials. The Ask-A-Librarian service gives the opportunity to "chat" online one-on-one with a librarian, or submit technical questions through email.

Please also visit our Library Online Tutorial Page, which lists all library tutorials in Adobe Flash format for easy viewing. This format allows users to watch as staff and librarians guide you through the process of submitting Online requests, creating CD-ROMs, and more.

 

Online Services


Ask-A-Librarian
This service allows you to ask questions via email, by searching a database of frequently asked questions, or chatting live with librarian. Please note the schedule for availability.

E-reserves
Search this online database to locate online material that has been reserved for courses. Many of these items are available electronically in Adobe Acrobat Reader format.

Services for Distance Learning
Our distance learning librarian has compiled a list of links as a tool for distance learning students which include request forms, computing resources and other useful guides.

Interlibrary Loan/ Document Delivery
This online service allows users to request materials that your home library does not own. ILLiad is the automated ILL management system, and is available to USF students, faculty and staff.

Online Service Request Forms
These online service forms allow you to renew items, report lost items, request equipment for instruction, as well as expedite library services such as cataloging or purchasing.

 

Library Computing Resources

Listing of Computing Hardware & Software Resources
A listing of all available computing hardware and software for your use either in the reference area, stacks, ADA Visual Aid Room, or in our Bibliographic Instruction Lab.

Computing Usage Guidelines & User Responsibilities
A helpful overview of computing resources are available from within the library, and a guide for using these resources responsibly.

Wireless Services Guide
The wireless network of the Poynter Library allows easy access to library catalogs, databases and the Internet for all USF students and staff. Includes a map of all 'live' locations within the library and on the library patio. Users must register via an online access page in order to use this University-wide service.

Library Laptops
Two new Dell laptops are available for Student and Staff checkout, which include the Microsoft Office suite of applications as well as wireless networking capability for use within the library. Come check out the latest craze - 'WiFi', and the portability of the Internet!
