Periodicals & Serials

A primary responsibility of the department includes checking in, physically processing, shelving, claiming and weeding periodicals and serials in all formats, including microfiche, microfilm, print and electronic, as well as processing and payment of annual subscription renewals and invoices.  Decisions on retention of periodicals and serials, acquisition of new periodical and subscription titles, and cancellation of titles, are the responsiblity of the Collection Development librarian, working with library liaisons. 

The Nelson Poynter Library of the University of South Florida has a preference for electronic access to periodicals, and a commitment to cancel print periodicals when possible. For futher information on periodical collection policies, please see the Collection Development policy.
