ADA Access Services Overview

Library staff can usually respond to requests for brief assistance, such as retrieving a book from the stacks or helping a student use the on-line catalog to find a couple citations.   For lengthier assistance, please make arrangements with the Office of Student Disability and Volunteer Services.  They may be reached at 727-873-4990, or online at http://www.stpete.usf.edu/disability/index.htm.  

Access to the Assisted Technologies room (POY 137) may be arranged through the Reference or Circulation Desks.  Direct hardware and software concerns to Library Systems at (727) 873-4402 or online via a help form at http://www.nelson.usf.edu/forms/feedback.html.  Training and assistance in using speech recognition and associated hardware and software will be provided upon request to the Office of Student Disability and Volunteer Services.  To set up an d appointment for library research assistance, please use the RAP (Research Assistance Program) form at http://www.nelson.usf.edu/forms/rapform.html.

 

BUILDING FACILITIES

The Library building and restrooms are wheelchair-accessible.


ACCESS TO DEPARTMENTS

The Library Entrance has automatic doors for wheelchair access.

PARKING

Five wheelchair-accessible parking spaces are available adjacent to library on the North side.

 

BOOKS

Books can also be retrieved from stacks by library staff on request.

 


ON-LINE CATALOG


The On-line Catalog (USF Libraries Online Catalog) is available onsite and through dial-up from remote locations. You will need an IBM compatible or Apple computer with a modem, an internet service provider, and an internet browser. Located in POY 137, the Assistive Technologies room for disability access is available to provide onsite access to USF Libraries Online Catalog with the screen magnification software, ZoomText. This software allows a dual monitor enabled computer to display at two resolutions. Also, text-to-speech software is included, as well as Vista's Speech Recognition software. A Magellan magnification system and an over-height table is available.
