ADA Access Services Overview

The Nelson Poynter Memorial Library Staff is eager to assist you in using the resources and services available within the library and through on-line services. We encourage you to stop at any service desk for assistance.

We can usually respond to requests for brief assistance, such as retrieving a book from the stacks or assisting with using the on-line catalog for a few citations. However, you are encouraged to make arrangements in advance if you anticipate the need for lengthy assistance, and a staff member will be assigned for this purpose.

BUILDING FACILITIES

The Library building and restrooms are wheelchair-accessible.

ACCESS TO DEPARTMENTS

The Library Entrance has automatic doors for wheelchair access.

PARKING

Five wheelchair-accessible parking spaces are available adjacent to library on the North side.

WHEELCHAIRS

One Hoverround brand electric wheelchair is available for use on request. Narrow profile provides access to stack areas too narrow for some electric wheelchairs, and features a power seat that can lift to provide access to higher stack shelves.

BOOKS

Books can also be retrieved from stacks by library staff on request.

ON-LINE CATALOG

The On-line Catalog (USF Libraries Online Catalog) is available onsite and through dial-up from remote locations. You will need an IBM compatible or Apple computer with a modem, an internet service provider, and an internet browser. The PC for disability access is available to provide onsite access to USF Libraries Online Catalog with the screen magnification software, ZoomText.
