Welcome

Comprised of the Circulation, Reserves, and Interlibrary Loan departments of the Nelson Poynter Memorial Library, Access Services is the access point for materials within the library. Circulation is the physical point for borrowing of materials from within the library, and sets the limitations for Circulation borrowing privileges based on USF ID.

Reserves are available in two main formats: print reserves comprised of shelved books and media and online Course Reserves. Most reserves are for use within the library only. Faculty members are invited to place materials on Reserve at the Circulation Desk for the benefit of students in their classes. These materials may include, but are not limited to, books and journals owned by Poynter Library, personal classnotes and exams, items obtained from other USF campus libraries, and videos or class tapings. Materials borrowed from outside the USF libraries may not be placed on Reserve. Where more than one copy of an article is required instructors must provide the additional copies. Students may not sign reserve request forms in the professor's stead but may drop off reserve items with completed forms for the professor.

Interlibrary Loan processes requests for items located in other libraries, including USF libraries as well as those around the country and beyond. This department also fulfills borrowing requests from other libraries, both with the physical items as well as with articles in alternate formats.
